I first met Millie at Bingo Night in my father in law’s retirement community. As the self-appointed Bingo police, Millie made it her mission to make sure I knew all the rules before I could play. She takes her bingo very seriously.

Once she was convinced that I didn’t pose a threat to her crown, we had the chance to get to know one another. Millie moved into the retirement community fourteen years ago, when she could no longer navigate the stairs in her home. We talked about kids, grand kids, what she liked most about living in a senior community, what she missed most about the home she’d left.

Once the bingo caller stepped up to the table, my chat with Millie came to an end. She turned to leave and I caught a glimpse of the bumper sticker on the back of her scooter: “There Goes Sexy.”

I started to think about the limitations that had taken Sexy Millie away from her home. Stairs. Fourteen planks of wood. A lifetime of memories left behind because she couldn’t get up and down the stairs. Millie has starteThere Goes Sexyd a new life in her senior living facility, but I can’t help but think that a simple stairlift solution might have allowed her to remain at home longer, and safer.

For folks like Sexy Millie, stairlifts can offer the freedom to stay safe and independent at home, rather than being uprooted from the comfort and familiarity of home with a stressful move.

Stairlifts are motorized chairs that travel up and down on a rail that mounts on the treads of the stairs. They are battery operated, reliable devices that provide accessibility. They feature obstruction sensors for added safety. The seat and footrest fold up, so the lift is compact and out of the way when not in use. Affordable and reliable, stairlifts are a great solution for overcoming mobility limitations in two-story or split level homes.

Millie is staying put in her retirement community; she’s amassed a small fortune in Bingo winnings, and somebody’s got to be there to make sure everyone plays by the rules. But there’s always a chance that a stairlift could be Bringing Sexy Back.

I work in marketing for a Mobility store in the Midwest and find it so hard to write information, yet fun and interesting content.
Clearly that isn’t a problem for you!
    Great cute story!
