A custom curved stairlift is a device that is installed on a staircase to transport an individual up and down the stairs. To use a stairlift, one must be able to safely transfer in and out of the stairlift’s seat and remain in the upright position through the duration of the ride.
101 Mobility offers custom curved stairlifts from the industry’s leading manufacturers, each with a range of additional features and add-on options. We offer free in-home stairlift consultations, where on of our expert Mobility Consultants will talk to you about the options and benefits of custom curved stairlifts and take measurements of your staircase.
Following your free consultation, your custom curved stairlift unit is custom-manufactured to fit the unique pathway of your stair case’s curves and landings, ensuring an exact fit.
Custom curved stairlifts are custom-made to suit the unique pathway of your stair case’s turns, curves, and / or landings. Stairlifts are attached directly to the stair treads and are not affected by the walls or railings of the staircase.
Your custom curved stairlift can be designed to fit on whichever side of the staircase you prefer. During your free consultation, our expert Mobility Consultants will help you determine the best pathway for your stairlift.
Custom curved stairlifts can be manufactured to fit nearly any staircase length. Prior to beginning the manufacturing process, our experts will use a special camera to take exact measurements of your staircase to ensure that the final product fits your staircase exactly.
Stairlifts are available in a range of widths depending on the user’s needs. Most stairlifts require only about 29″ of space, which can be easily accommodated by most modern staircases. When not in use, the seat, arm rests, and foot rest fold flat against the wall to maximize the usable staircase space for others.
Indoor stairlifts from 101 Mobility are battery-powered, but require access to a basic 110v outlet in order to recharge the unit’s battery. In the event of a power outage, a fully-charged stairlift will continue to run for a period of time ranging from hours to days until the stored charge is exhausted. The exact period of time varies depending on make, model, age, and frequency of use.
Rail overruns extend the stairlift’s railing beyond the staircase. At the top of the staircase, curved rail overruns extend a few feet away from the staircase’s top landing, and may even wrap around a nearby corner to enable the user to safely transfer in and out of the stairlift’s seat in a safe area away from the staircase. At the bottom of the staircase, curved rail overruns wrap the unit’s bottom railing around a corner and out of the path of hallway traffic.
During your free consultation, 101 Mobility’s Mobility Consultant will discuss additional rail options with you to determine the best stairlift pathway to enhance the safety of your home and best suit your needs.
Most stairlifts are controlled by a button or switch placed in the unit’s arm rest. This controller may be placed on either arm rest – let our installers know which side you prefer to ensure easy operation. To operate your stairlift, simply press the button or rocker switch on the unit’s arm rest.
101 Mobility’s stairlifts also come with a standard call/send switch, which is mounted on the wall near the bottom of the staircase. An additional switch may be added at the top of the staircase. This switch enables multi-user households to access the unit when necessary, and also provides a means to send the stairlift’s chair to a different position on the staircase and out of the way when not in use.
Stairlift seats can swivel to enable safer transitions in and out of the stairlift’s seat. Depending on the user’s abilities, you may prefer to add a power swivel seat feature, which will automatically turn the seat rather than requiring the user to do so manually. Our expert Mobility Consultants will speak with you during your free home consultation to determine which seat style is best for your needs.
101 Mobility offers custom curved indoor stairlifts from the industry’s most trusted manufacturers. Each make and model has a different aesthetic, and you may find that you prefer the look and feel of one type over another.
Depending on the make and model, your stairlift may be available with different seat color and fabric options as well as rail color options. Our Mobility Consultants will address any concerns about stairlift aesthetics to find the best option to enhance your home’s decor.
