Welcome to the (Newly Wheelchair Accessible) Jungle!

March 13, 2014
A group of people, including individuals in wheelchairs, engage in various activities: interviews, face painting, arcade games, and laser tag at an event organized by a mobility solutions company.

Something wild happened last night. Jungle Rapids, a family-fun theme park, celebrated its newly accessible party level with local friends and organizations! This “Rumble in the Jungle” brought together tons of people for one simple thing: monkeying around.

Laser tag! Pizza! Arcade games, oh my! Kids of all ages and abilities had a blast with the many forms of fun and food—all of which are now fully accessible, thanks to a newly installed platform lift by 101 Mobility.

The local news stations even stopped by. Don’t worry, we gave them pizza too! (Thanks, WWAY!)

One of the popular activities was face painting. Painted “jungle” animals ranged from snakes and frogs to leopards and birds. Let your imagination soar!

Ahem—no cheetahs in laser tag, please! The laser tag room at Jungle Rapids has wide hallways and a smooth floor, making it easy for wheelchair users to get around.

A roaring good time was had by all—including this fierce flower child chomping on some cheesy pizza.

After everyone had scarfed down the pizza, we headed back downstairs to try our luck out on some arcade games. This cute girl got to win some points with a chicken game!

From all of us at 101 Mobility, thank you for monkeying around with us. A huge thank you and pat on the back to Jungle Rapids for taking their facility’s accessibility to the next level!

Other organizations in attendance were, the Coastal Carolinas MDA (Muscular Dystrophy Association), Exceptional Children’s Network, Miracle League (Access Wilmington), HotWheels Hockey Team, Disability Resource Center, WWAY, WECT, and Easter Seals.
