101 Mobility Milwaukee Partners with Local Nonprofit – Provides Life-Changing Benefits for Local Residents
101 Mobility in Milwaukee recently partnered with Revitalize Milwaukee, a local nonprofit, to provide life-changing benefits to local residents. Revitalize Milwaukee provides free critical repair, safety repairs, and life-changing accessibility modifications for low-income homeowners. Recipients of these modifications may be senior citizens, veterans, and/or persons with disabilities. Low-income homeowners supported by Revitalize Milwaukee have an average income of $16,000 / year – for these individuals, they are often faced with the choice of food or healthcare over home repairs. Unfortunately, neglecting these repairs often puts their lives in danger.
As a local provider of mobility and accessibility equipment, 101 Mobility is proud to assist Revitalize Milwaukee in providing area residents with home repairs and equipment.
“We are grateful for the relationship that has formed with 101 Mobility and the partnership has already provided a stair lift, an electric reclining chair (that could serve as a sleeper) and a ramp for a veteran’s family,” says Lynnea Katz-Petted, CEO of Revitalize Milwaukee.
Donna Dziewik, owner of 101 Mobility in Milwaukee, is always on the lookout for ways to help individuals in need who cannot afford her products outright. “We repurchase ramps from various clients but in some cases, clients want to donate a piece of equipment in honor of their loved one that passed away,” said Donna Dziewik, owner of 101 Mobility in Milwaukee. “We work closely with our nonprofit partners to find the right recipient for donations and provide our time to ensure it is installed correctly.”
One such recipient was Janis, a local resident who had been housebound since her release from a rehab facility. A former client of 101 Mobility had purchased the ramp but no longer needed it. They reached out to Donna, wanting to pass the ramp along to a deserving homeowner. 101 Mobility worked with Revitalize Milwaukee to identify Janis as an ideal recipient – 101 Mobility donated additional ramp sections to make the ramp a perfect fit for Janis and provided their labor to ensure the ramp was safely installed. Revitalize Milwaukee performed additional interior modifications to ensure that Janis could safely access her ramp from within her home. With her new ramp, Janis is now able to get outside to walk her dogs, greet her neighbors, and meet up with transport drivers for medical appointments and outings. Regaining some of her previous freedoms has made the process of aging easier for Janis and allows her to overcome her aging-related physical limitations.
“We value partnerships with local companies. Working together with Donna and her team has helped us change lives,” says Lynnea Katz-Petted of Revitalize Milwaukee.
Revitalize Milwaukee and 101 Mobility would like to thank homeowners who make gently used equipment available for donation, and the dedicated individuals who donated time and equipment to make these donations possible. Gifts such as these have a life-changing effect on residents of the Milwaukee area.
