101 Mobility of Northeast Wisconsin Partners with Door County Habitat for Humanity to Improve Accessibility for Residents

101 Mobility of Northeast Wisconsin, owned and operated by Michael and Mary Lynn Larson, is proud to announce a successful partnership with Door County Habitat for Humanity. This collaboration has significantly improved accessibility for residents in need by providing and installing ramps and mobility solutions.

Over the past year, 101 Mobility has worked closely with Door County Habitat for Humanity’s Ramp Up program to assist individuals facing mobility challenges. This partnership has enabled quick and effective responses to urgent accessibility needs, enhancing the lives of community members.

In a recent project, 101 Mobility responded to the needs of a Sturgeon Bay resident who had his right leg amputated and was learning to navigate life in a wheelchair. His rented home was not accessible, preventing him from safely entering and leaving his home. Door Habitat’s Ramp Up program identified the need for a temporary ramp, and 101 Mobility stepped in to provide the necessary parts and volunteer labor. Within a week of the request, the ramp was installed, allowing the resident to return home and continue his rehabilitation safely.

“We are delighted to support Door County Habitat for Humanity in their mission to improve lives through better accessibility,” said Michael Larson, owner of 101 Mobility of Northeast Wisconsin. “Our team is committed to positively impacting our community by providing mobility solutions to those in need.”

The Ramp Up program began in 2022 and has been a vital community service in Door County. With the support of 101 Mobility and other local partners, the program has provided essential accessibility solutions to numerous residents. The aluminum ramps, more expensive than wood but faster to install and reusable, have been funded by generous donations, including a grant from 100+ Women Who Care Door County.

“Working with 101 Mobility has been a game-changer for our Ramp Up program,” said Lori Allen, Program Coordinator at Door County Habitat for Humanity. “Their expertise and willingness to volunteer have enabled us to respond quickly to the needs of our community.”

Despite the successes, the need for additional ramps remains high. Door County Habitat for Humanity continues to seek donations to purchase more ramps, each costing nearly $10,000. These ramps will be leased to residents in need, ensuring they can safely stay in their homes during illness or rehabilitation.
